At Needles of Hope, in addition to acupuncture, we incorporate a number of alternative medicine therapies into your treatment plan. Here are some of them:

1. Frequency-Specific Microcurrent (FSM): Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) is a revolutionary system of noninvasive treatment using microdoses of electrical current combined with tissue and action-specific frequencies to repair and heal tissues and organs. Specific frequencies for example, can reduce inflammation, resolve viral infections, dissolve scar tissue, release trigger points muscles, increase energy (ATP) production, reduce pain, and improve organ functioning. FSM delivers a painless and targeted treatment to help energize cells and promote cellular regeneration and healing. FSM is currently being used at the Cleveland Clinic, at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for Wounded Warriors, at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago, and elsewhere. FSM is an easy way of treating brain- and nervous system-related impairments. Patients can expect FSM in every visit.

2. Laser Needles: Laser needles are noninvasive, gentle and pain-free alternative to traditional acupuncture. Laser needle systems were first developed at the Universities of Graz in Austria and the University of Paderborn in Germany in 2000, and have since become a key therapy in many European clinics.  Laser needle treatment employs fine fiber optic cables delivering highly concentrated laser light, allowing for the simultaneous stimulation of multiple points painlessly and non-invasively.

In addition to laser therapy’s well-known effects of producing positive physiological cell change, regenerating tissue, reducing inflammation and alleviating pain, the high intensity of laser needles has been documented to produce physiological effects similar to those of traditional metal needles.  Laser needles may be used as a stand alone treatment or combined with traditional acupuncture.

3. Photobiomodulation (PBM) or Low-Level Laser (or Light) Therapy (LLLT): Photobiomodulation therapy is a safe, non-invasive, and non-thermal modality that is based on a strong body of research dating back to the 1960s. Also known as low-level laser (or light) therapy, it uses either red or near-infrared light to stimulate, heal and repair damaged or dying tissue cells. This therapy is used for neurological rehabilitation (e.g. post-stroke rehabilitation, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s).

4. Ear Seeds

In ear acupuncture or auricular therapy, different parts of the ears correspond to different areas of the body. Therefore stimulating different parts of the ear treats different parts of the body. Stimulation can be accomplished via needles, but ear seeds, tiny seeds of the vaccaria plant that are stuck onto ear points using adhesive tape, work as well. This is perfect for self-healing for after your appointment. Ear seeds can be left on for 3 to 5 days, no problem taking a bath with them or going swimming!
